Project Description
A gas-insulated switchgear (GIS) substation, associated foundation as well as enclosure, and the GIS bus work that will extend from the enclosure to the existing transformer and 500 kV lines. Additionally, ABB is supporting, Electric Utilities’ efforts to optimize the key interface work with the surrounding air-insulated switch-gear (AIS) substation structures. The new GIS substation will replace first generation GIS equipment that was deployed at the site in the 1980s.
The project’s engineering, was taken care of by an EPC supplier, equipment, and construction, including the GIS switchgear, its base and enclosure, and the GIS bus work that will run from the enclosure to the existing transformer and 500-kV lines. The EPC is also assisted the Electric Utilities in their attempts to improve the essential interface work with the surrounding AIS structures. We took care of the general commissioning over-site.
Aside from the decreased area needs, gas insulated substations have additional advantages.
A GIS is less vulnerable to pollutants, salt, sand, or huge amounts of snow since the substation is housed in a structure.
Although the initial cost of constructing a GIS is more than that of constructing an AIS, the operating and maintenance costs of a GIS are lower.
GIS is one of the most essential topics to research, as are more conservative designs.
enhanced particle control, gas handling, and product breakdown management approaches
A more integrated approach to quality management by both users and manufacturers is required to achieve and sustain high levels of availability.
